We thought a good way to start would be for me to take a few minutes and tell you how Cheap Joe's got started. I was a pharmacist at Boone Drug Company in downtown Boone, the old store, for many years. In the early 80's I decided to take up this thing called watercolor. Every time I would see one I would think I could do that, that's an easy thing to do. It didn't quite work that way. I went to the dime store and bought a little set of Prang watercolors and watercolor paper. I was trying to copy this painting, I still have the print. Many of you have seen it, it has a little building up in the left hand corner and a wheat field and crows above it. It had a name at the bottom that I really wasn't that familiar with, it was Andrew Weiss. I tried to copy it but it didn't work too good. One year for Christmas a good friend of mine who taught English at ASU gave me three lessons with an art professor at ASU named Noyes Long.   There is a movement on facebook to stop the xfactor shite constantly being number one at Christmas... The plot is to force Rage Against the Machine to be number one... OK as far as it goes.. but there will be people who have bought Rage Against The Machine just to upset Cowell but don't actually want the single... Me for one... althought to be fair i have no intention of buy Cowell or RATM.. So... one step further is to post it to Simon Cowell.. without a postage stamp attached.... ie... he has to pay to receive it.. well.. his company "Syco TV" will refuse to pay postage so send it to Simon Cowell, c/o Sony Music, 9 Derry Street, London, W8 5HY. That should really annoy a lot of people... and remember... NO POSTAGE STAMP !!   An Ode to Christmas. I got this idea for this song when I went to buy my postage stamps. I don't know why but it seemed odd to me that the Virgin Mary was on a stamp. I was working for Fred Migliore at the time. He made an odd comment to me that gave me the idea for the last verse.

  Cultural Crossroads Bookmarker Art...
  I am pleased to announce: "Cultural Crossroads" An International Mail Art Show, July 1 - 31 at the Plainsboro Library Gallery in Plainsboro, New Jersey, USA. This bookmarker mail art show has over 140 entries from more than 60 artists in 22 countries, including: Denmark, The Netherlands, Venezuela, Singapore, Japan, Canada, Portugal, Germany, France, Guatemala, Brazil, Chile, Italy, Finland, the UK, Australia, Turkey, Belgium, Laos, Russia, South Africa and the United States. To create this show, I sent out letters to mail artists who have contributed to shows I have been part of, and posted a call for bookmarkers for this show on various websites. The entries were varied and wonderful, many creative collages, original drawings and paintings, words and languages and stamps from the far corners of the world. It made getting my mail for the last few months quite a treat.
